While going through some of my stuff, I came across a booklet I'd forgotten I had. It was a booklet put together by a guy who worked at the US Patent office and was a Trek fan. It was called the "Technical Book of Science Fiction Films", put out by the old "Enterprise Incidents" publication. He'd found and published the patent claims from Paramount for various aspects of TMP. You can get these drawings yourself from teh US patent Office site, but you need to download a special viewer to see the drawings.
Here's the "perscan" or bio-buckle patent. The drawing seems accurate. The actual buckle came in 2 sizes: large for male, small for female and was never shown to function in the movie. Photos by John Pearse
I dont know the actual scale of the buckle but it shouldnt be hard to guesstimate (4" wide? A third smaller for women?).
