Welcome to the Starfleet 1701st Forum! This is our own space where we can discuss our "on-going mission: to uniform Trek fandom in accurate
and consistent Star Trek uniforms, and then to gather and have fun!
This started in 2005 at Dewbackwing.Com and with forum member "Peter1701", where he wondered out loud as to why there wasn't a "Star Trek" version of the Star Wars "501st Legion" (a club where members make and wear Star Wars uniforms made to club specifications). Others of us chimed in and before you know it, the "Starfleet 1701st: The Star Trek Uniform Club" was born!
"PeteFX" took on the job as president after "Peter1701, with myself, "Peter1701" and "Captain Amerca" on staff; we proceeded to try to make this club a reality. After a second false start and the club being in limbo with no leadership, I offered to "take the con" to get the club up and running, if there were no objections. There were none and so here we are!
Since assuming the con in 2006, the Starfleet 1701st has:
Established this board, which includes a links page with great sources for uniform/costume creation and related information!
Established Roddenberry.Com as our official source for Starfleet uniform fabric, accessories, patterns and props
Started a manual that will document the details of the various uniforms and provide reference
Sought out sources of reliable information and detail about the uniforms; as well as reliable tailors for uniform construction
Many thanks to those who helped us come to be; especially "Dewbackwing.Com", who let us discuss and form in their forum! Thanks to our
inspiration, the "501st Legion.Com"! They'll be a hard act to follow, but we will do it! Thanks also Tony Lawrence, Prasith Kim Aun, Karl
Southcott, Cheralyn Lambeth, Keith Marshall, Lina Wheeler and Brian Garver for their contributions. Also thanks to Admiral Buck" for working on graphic
concepts, and to all those who support and have supported the Starfleet 1701st.
If you would like to know more about the SF1701st, please continue reading this forum and past posts in DBW. If you'd like to join us, please read the "Membership FAQ" for details. Once I return your email, you will have completed the first part of your membership: the second part is getting your uniform made to official club specs and then having your picture taken in your uniform!
Thank you for your interest and thank you for joining us!
Yours in "Space: The Final Frontier!"
Steve Thomas, President
